The Dante is buzzing with events for Italian Heritage Month and beyond!
Come to show your support for the victims of the central Italian earthquake on Sunday, October 23 with Boston Stands with Italy, in the North End at the DCR Steriti Rink from 1:00-4:00pm. This is a fundraiser sponsored by the Italian community and will feature food and wine from some of Boston’s best Italian restaurants.
On Saturday, October 22, 7:00pm, come and enjoy the Craig Hartley Trio at the Dante.
Hartley’s Books on Tape: Italian Edition is the trio he tours with in Italy. Theirs is a unique jazz trio which merges their transatlantic music sensibilities to create a vibrant, unique, and beautiful sound. Get more information here. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door or here on Eventbrite.
We have several film screenings coming up, beginning Sunday, October 23 at 5:00pm with “La Giusta Distanza” (“The Right Distance”), a 2007 Carlo Mazzacurati film with a timely topic: suspicion of a long-time village resident who is a Tunisian immigrant. This is a free event. You can watch a trailer here.
On Friday, October 28 at 7:00 pm, Umberto Mucci will present his book, We The Italians: One Flag, Two Hearts, One Hundred Interviews.
Mucci will discuss his book and have 3 of his interviewees present for the discussion. This is a free event and Mucci’s book will be available here for purchase and for him to autograph.
Once again, Bradley Pennington and the Boston Bel Canto Opera will have their performance on stage at the Dante. Join them on Sunday, October 30 at 2:00pm to hear operatic arias and duets from Italian and French operas, and Pennington will also give a piano recital. Click here for more information.
Check back for the events coming up in November, including more films and 3 events with a Sicilian theme. Grazie!
